Trigger Point Trader Alert - Two New Positions
On Friday, it was looking like Israel’s attacks on Iran were limited to its nuclear program.
That ended on Sunday morning when conventional energy infrastructure was targeted.
A natural gas plant at the supergiant South Pars field was hit. Israel has not targeted Iran’s oil export terminals but that is a possibility in what is likely to become a series of tit-for-tat attacks.
The conflict between Iran and Israel is unlikely to end until Israel has achieved its primary objective. Now that a series of attacks have begun, the only option is victory.
The timing of this escalation is Israel’s way of pressing its advantage.
The success in neutering Hezbollah in Lebanon, the demise of the Assad regime in Syria, and the containment of Hamas in Gaza, mean there is no better strategic time to directly attack Iran.
That suggests they will not stop until they are sure that Iran cannot build a nuclear weapon. Ultimately, that means regime change is the ultimate goal.
Since Iran already had partially enriched uranium, the main objective is to destroy the centrifuges required to enrich to bomb quality. That is unlikely without assistance from the USA.
